About Whirls of Pearls
The Beginning
Joan Kowalski has always been interested in jewelry. After completing her first class learning the tools of the trade and how to strand beads, she knew she would need more than simply beading. This then took her to the second stage of jewelry design...she added fire to the process. A self-taught metalsmith with a passion for designing and forming metal into unique forms and shapes, she is inspired by Native American tradition. The rustic and organic foundation of these designs are incorporated into her handmade jewelry.
